Los Angeles, CA – On September 27th, California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, alongside the Korean Resource Center (KRC), LA Youth Vote and Next Gen Climate held a kick-off press conference at John Francis Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley as part National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register hundreds of thousands of voters across Southern California. Embraced by a host of celebrities, bipartisan elected officials and organizations, NVRD leverages the collective impact of thousands of community partners, including hundreds of our youth leaders across Southern California.

Los Angeles, CA - The Korean Resource Center is moving its Los Angeles offices back to the first floor of the Durae Crenshaw Apartment, built as the result of a 10-year project to increase low-income senior housing in Koreatown. KRC will close for the office move from Thursday, May 26th to Tuesday, May 31st, and will resume operations on Wednesday, June 1st. Levine Management will notify all residents at the Durae Apartments of their respective move in dates.

Los Angeles, CA – Today at the Los Angeles City Hall Rotunda, the Korean Resource Center, part of the California Table for Immigration Reform, one of the largest and oldest coalitions in California in support of policy reforms on immigration law, and a project of CHIRLA, along with immigrant families launched a national education effort called “The Faces of DAPA and DACA+”.
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Joon Young Bang will be joining our organization as the Los Angeles Director. Prior to joining KRC, Joon was the Associate Director of The UCLA Foundation and Manager of Programs and Operations at the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. Isabel Kang joined our leadership team as the OC Director in November 2015 and comes with over 20 years of experience advocating for the rights of domestic violence survivors. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Jenny Seon, who stepped up to play a critical role as our interim Executive Director since May 2015. Jenny will be transitioning to focus her work as KRC’s Immigrant Rights Project Director.
Los Angeles, CA - In celebration of Lunar New Year, traditional Korean drumming groups of UCLA, UCI, and USC come together for Ji Shin Balp Ki around Koreatown, visiting local businesses, stopping to perform at major locations, and spreading good luck around the city on Saturday, February 13th. The festival will start at 10:00am at the Korean Pavilion Garden on Olympic Blvd and Irolo St. It will then travel east on Olympic toward Vermont, then turn around to head west toward Western. From there, it will continue north up Western. There are planned performance stops at the Koreatown Galleria (3250 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006) and the Wilshire/Western Metro station. It will conclude at Han Kook Supermarket (124 N Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004)
Washington, D.C. – Kevin HyunKyu Lee, a recent DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipient and organizer with the Korean Resource Center in Los Angeles, met with President Barack Obama this morning as part of the national Keeping Families Together Campaign. He joined 6 other DREAMers who have received DACA and U.S. citizen family members of undocumented immigrants who are directly affected by our nation’s broken immigration system. They shared their stories with President Obama and Vice President Biden to highlight the importance of passing immigration reform.
To express the urgency for a permanent solution for immigrant youth, the Korean Resource Center (KRC) alongside 12 community partners coming from faith, labor, LGBTQ, women's rights and other grassroots organizations assembled a candlelight vigil outside Representative Mimi Walters’ (R-CA) office. Through this action, community leaders expressed not only their outrage against the failed leadership of Representative Walters, who has one of the most impacted districts in the county for undocumented youth and families, and the White House, but also their determination to continue fighting for justice for all immigrants.

(Los Angeles, CA) The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) and its affiliates, the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) in Chicago and the Korean Resource Center (KRC) in Los Angeles are urging Korean American organizations throughout the country to have their say on immigration in 2009. Earlier this month local and national immigrant rights groups came together to issue a joint letter to President-elect Barack Obama on the urgent need to enact immigration reform. For the next 45 days, community organizations are encouraged to support this effort by endorsing and gathering organizational endorsements.
