In the year of Frederick Douglass's Bicentennial celebration, a project called The Frederick Douglass 200 (FD200) has been announced by the Frederick Douglass Family Initaitives and the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American Univeristy in Washington D.C. to honor the impact of 200 living individuals who embody the work and spirit of Douglass. Dae Joong Yoon, Board President of KRC and current Co-Director of the NAKASEC who is currently on a year-long sabbatical leave, has been named as one of the FD200 awardees under "The Abolitionists" category for his work in community organizing and movement building in the Korean American, immigrant community and fighting against anti-immigrant legislation.

From Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22, undocumented young people, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients, and community leaders from the Black and Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) immigrant communities convened in the greater Los Angeles area for a three-day long conference. This conference, titled Woori Ujima, woori meaning “our” in Korean and ujima meaning “collective work and responsibility” in Swahili, was spearheaded by the UndocuBlack Network and NAKASEC & Affiliates, KRC and Hana Center. The conference was held in Los Angeles, which was the location where the 1992 Los Angeles Civil Unrest took place, also called Los Angeles Uprising in recognition of its nature as protest against police brutality against black people - specifically the beating of Rodney King, as well as a history of violence and repression against people of color.

On June 14th, over 200 immigrant rights leaders and allies gathered at Morrison Park in Santa Ana to rally and march to the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange to demand that the Orange County Board of Supervisors keep Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) out of Orange County and end immigrant detention at Theo Lacy.

On Monday April 16, Los Alamitos Community United (LACU) and a broad coalition of faith, immigrant, civil rights, and youth groups united to promote California values and celebrate diversity in the face unconstitutional and hateful attacks from Trump-inspired hate groups. Although the Los Alamitos City Council voted 4-1 on an ordinance seeking to exempt the city from state law that limits local and state resources from being used for federal immigration enforcement, yesterday's rally was about youth, community, and how we countered the hate and xenophobia of a few with the love and energy over 100 community members from Orange County.
