Feinstein Under Fire For Undermining Families;
Community Says They Will Hold Her Responsible If Families Lose Out During Immigration Debate

WHAT:
Community groups will be holding a protest and rally at Senator Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) Los Angeles office, to urge the Senator to dramatically shift her position in the current Senate immigration reform debate.

Community leaders will ask Senator Feinstein to support amendments that will preserve the current family visa system and eliminate the backlogs, offer a clean and simple path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, and create a pathway to citizenship for future workers. The Senate bill that was introduced on May 17, 2007 takes us one step forward with a weak legalization program and three steps backwards with the elimination of family visa categories, establishment of a point system that keeps families separated, and the creation of second-class citizens through a guestworker program with no real pathway to citizenship.

This is one of a series of actions nation-wide that began on Monday, June 4th, targeting key leaders in the immigration debate.
