On the second anniversary of President Trump's rescinding of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, immigrant rights groups will announce "Rise Up for DACA," the campaign to defend the program as it faces its biggest-ever challenge in the Supreme Court. The coalition will hold a rally and press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 5 at the downtown Federal Building. We will hear testimony from DACA pioneers, beneficiaries, and those who missed out on DACA because of Trump's decision.

AB1620(Santiago), a state bill that will expand in-state tuition eligibility for more undocumented students in California, is being heard in the Assembly Higher Education Committee on April 23rd. Forty Asian American community members from Los Angeles and Orange Counties are taking traveling to Sacramento on an overnight bus and joining Assmb. Santiago and Assmb. Quirk-Silva to show support for AB1620 and undocumented students in the Assembly Higher Education Committee Hearing.

Irvine city council needs to make clear whether they stand with Trump’s hatred, or they stand with their own community in Irvine,” said Catherine Tran, who is a third year Asian American Studies Major. “We need our city council to say NO to hate, and be an example, for our youth, for our county, and yes for the rest of the country.”

WHAT: Trump and Senate Republicans have announced that they will not attach protection for Dreamers to the end-of-year spending bill. As a response, the Korean Resource Center (KRC) will gather with hundreds of Orange County constituents including DACA recipients, immigrant advocates, and allies in front of Congresswoman Mimi Walters’ (R-45) office demanding justice for Dreamers who have been double-crossed by the President and his administration. After multiple failed attempts to meet with Congresswoman Walters, a delegation will return to demand her support of her communities and a clean Dream Act.

5th Circuit Judges are Functionally Acting as Puppets of Anti-Immigrant Politicians
The Korean Resource Center will hold a press conference on Wednesday, October 14 to demand the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals to rule on the administrative relief case they has been sitting on for almost a year. NAKASEC, the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center (KRCC), and the Korean Resource Center (KRC) will also pledge to join solidarity fasts, engage in a social media campaign, and lead community conversations in support of the “The Fast to Keep Families Together” - a powerful 9 day fast and vigil starting on October 14th outside the courthouse in New Orleans led by impacted immigrant families and national leaders representing faith, labor, civil rights, and the immigrant community. The administrative relief programs, namely expanded DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents), could keep families together and provide them with temporary protections.
