Delegates from Los Angeles County’s Immigrant Community to Converge in Sacramento
will call on state leaders to support immigration reform
and pro-immigrant state legislative agenda

WHAT:
Immigrants, refugees and advocates from Los Angeles County’s Asian, Latino and other immigrant/refugee communities will be boarding buses on Sunday morning to travel to the State Capitol and to participate in the 11th Annual Immigrant Day on Monday, May 21st. They will be joining hundreds of immigrants and advocates from throughout the state to in a broad show of unity to call on Governor Schwarzenegger and state legislators to enact health care reform and protect the safety net for low-income seniors, children and the disabled.

WHO:
Clients, members, volunteers and staff from the Korean Resource Center, Filipino American Service Group, Inc., the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, and the Asian Pacific American Legal Center.

Immigrant Day is organized by the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC). CIPC is a policy of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC), Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), National Immigration Law Content (NILC) and Services, Immigrant Rights and Education Network (SIREN).

VISUALS:
APALC pick-up site will include over 40 participants with banners in support of the just and humane immigration reform, access to affordable healthcare, and immigrant integration programs.
