Position: Housing Counselor
Position Type: Full time
The Korean Resource Center (KRC) is seeking a Housing Counselor. The Housing Counselor is responsible for foreclosure prevention counseling services and educational workshops as well as some administrative responsibilities. This position requires the ability to work independently and thoughtful decision making skills.
KRC was founded in 1983 to empower the Korean American community, low-income immigrant and people of color communities through a holistic model that combines education, social services, and culture with effective community advocacy and organizing. KRC is guided by the four principles: Live Rightly, Know Our Roots, Empower Ourselves, and Live in Harmony. KRC is a 501c3 non-profit organization and a founding affiliate of the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC)
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of clients whose situations require intervention or negotiation with lenders.
- Provide one-on-one foreclosure prevention counseling including intake, collecting and analyzing a client’s financial documents, developing and assisting clients with action plans, negotiations with lender, helping clients with verbal and written communications with lenders, etc.
- Provide accurate and timely responses to client inquiries.
- Assist with preparation and facilitating foreclosure prevention and credit education workshops including scheduling, promotions and outreach, and making presentations.
- Attend required training sessions. (This will involve travel to other cities).
- Manage Housing Counseling Database (including creating, maintaining, and updating client flies).
- Develop educational and marketing materials and support outreach activities.
- Assist in preparing required program reports.
- Perform additional program and administrative duties as assigned.
