Culture 2007 Activity Highlights

HanNuRi

The Korean American Cultural Troupe ‘Hannuri’ rang in the New Year, with about 300 other community members. The New Year Celebration event was held at the top of Griffith Park on January 1, 2007. On February 17, ‘Hannuri’ had a ‘Ji-Shin-Barp-Ki’ which celebrated the lunar New Year and presented hopes for the Community’s well-being throughout the year. ‘Hannuri’ performs ‘Poong Mool’ (traditional drumming) at various events throughout the community, such as the Korean Music Festival at the Hollywood Bowl (May 5). ‘Hannuri’ also participated in a National Poong Mool workshop in Chicago to strengthen their skills. For those interested in learning more about Poong Mool, ‘Hannuri’ is conducting several Poong Mool classes; every Monday and Friday for adults, Wednesday for young adults, and Saturday for children.
