KRC joined with UNITE HERE Local 11, representing the hotel workers of the Wilshire Plaza Hotel, to sponsor a media briefing which informed the community that the hotel workers’ wages were categorically reduced from $10-14 an hour to minimum wage. In addition, the workers have lost their vacation time and had their health insurance benefits cut. As a result, one worker at this hotel has had to stop receiving cancer treatment, and others have relied on local churches to feed their families. In support of the hotel workers who launched the boycott, KRC faxed the information letter to more than 500 Korean American churches and organizations.
