Immigrant Rights Organizations Urge Community To Call California Senators During Next Two Days in Support of Immigration Reform
Los Angeles, CA: The Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), Consejo de Federaciones Mexicanas en Norte America (COFEM), Hermandad Mejicana, Korean Resource Center (KRC), National Korean American Services and Education Consortium (NAKASEC), and Placita Olvera Church urged all Angelenos to pick up the phone today and call California Senator Dianne Feinstein to express the urgent need for an immigration reform policy that does reunites families and gives workers rights.
“Anti-immigrant forces are massively calling Senator Feinstein’s office as we speak,” said Angelica Salas, CHIRLA Executive Director. “It is urgent that the pro-immigrant reform community also exercise their right to express their opinion to Senator Feinstein.”
We invite the community to call free of charge 1-800-882-2005 and to indicate their support of immigration reform once they are connected to Senator Feinstein’s office. We urge community members to invite their family members and friends to call especially during the next two days when the debate on immigration reform enters it’s final stage before a vote. The caller may be asked for his zip code in addition to a name. The message is simple and must be stated in English: I support immigration reform.
“The question is not whether or not we need immigration reform, the real issue is what kind of reform. Senator Feinstein must hear from the community that we support immigration reform that keeps families together and gives workers rights and a path for legalization,” stated Angela Sanbrano, CARECEN Executive Director.
“We cannot wait for someone else to make the call,” said Eun-Sook Lee, NAKASEC Executive Director. “We must pick up the phone and call the Senators right now before it’s too late.”
