National Organizing Coordinator

The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) seeks a hard-working, highly-skilled, talented, and committed individual to serve as the National Organizing Coordinator. This is a position for an individual who has experience in community organizing and advocacy activities to develop and carry out comprehensive organizing efforts that advance NAKASEC’s programs and mission.

Major Responsibilities Include:

* Coordinate a national and local, non-partisan voter education and mobilization campaign, including voter registration and voter assistance.
* Coordinate and manage the civic participation project; work with collaborating organizations on the local and national efforts.
* Develop educational materials and conduct voter research based on exit polls, surveys & reports.
* Identify, monitor and advocate for policies and measures to protect voting rights and increase access and participation of immigrant, Asian Pacific American and Limited English Proficient voters.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national and local Asian Pacific American and immigrant civic participation groups.
* Assist Communications Coordinator with and participate in media events and conduct on-going media outreach to mainstream and ethnic media to promote the electoral and civic engagement of Asian Pacific American and immigrant communities.
* Maintain knowledge about the external (political, social) environment as it relates to the work and mission of NAKASEC and the centers.
* Coordinate national gatherings/trainings for youth and community leaders at centers using a common curriculum.
* Represent NAKASEC and the centers in national coalitions.
* Produce and maintain reports and other documentation related to the project.
* Develop a strategic plan for developing the program in order to advance the organization’s mission and objectives.
* Provide ongoing support to the Executive Director in all facets of program activities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years experience in organizing and working on Korean American, Asian Pacific American or immigrant community issues and/or civic participation initiatives. Required skills and experience include: Demonstrated track record of working collaboratively in local-national partnerships and/or with multi-ethnic or multi-sector communities; experience in community organizing, advocacy and research; experience developing campaigns and strategic planning; excellent capacity to relate well to others and processes; excellent oral communications, writing, and editing skills; articulate with media and other outside resources and supporters; effective collaborator; strategic and creative thinker; ability to work independently; prioritize multiple tasks; ability to meet deadlines; and experience with long-range planning.

Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with social justice and change issues.
Fluency in the Korean language preferred, but not required.
