On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, KRC-HAP participated in a conversation with students from the Community Health Involvement Project (CHIP) at the University of Southern California. The evening's goals were to increase awareness about hurdles immigrants face, whether financial, language based, or otherwise. In addition, discussion leaders impressed upon these future healthcare professionals the importance of cultural competency, through examples and stories.
It’s Our Healthcare!, a statewide coalition for health reform, launched a 48-hour vigil in front of the Governor’s Los Angeles office beginning Wednesday, October 17.
The Korean Resource Center hosted the 7th bi-annual Koreatown Health Day on October 6, at Olympic Presbyterian Church. Over 1250 units of services were provided to low-income, uninsured Korean American community members.
