In response to the Texas Injunction haulting DACA expansion and DAPA, the Korean Resource Center began a petition drive targeting Orange County cities (Garden Grove, Fullerton, and Buena Park). Also, we have met with city councils from these cities to adopt a resolution in support of DACA/DAPA.
Garden Grove's Mayor Bao Nguyen has been a great supporter and champion for immigration reform. He was the first mayor to really embrace the resolution and put the resolution to a vote at the last city council meeting (July 28).
After the resolution passed, Mayor Bao and the city council received push back from anti immigrant residents that were present at the council meeting. The Mayor has reached out our groups for support and is steadfast in his support. However, the 2 who members supported the resolution - Phat Bui and Chris Beard are trying to rescind there support.
At upcoming August 11th city council meeting, Mr. Bui and Mr. Beard will move to rescind there vote. At this meeting, the community will have a chance to weigh in with public comments. Each comment is alloted 5 minutes. At the last meeting, we had 5 speakers in support of the resolution and a group of 20 community members. We need to keep the pressure on for August 11. Focus should be on the benefits of DACA/DAPA for Garden Grove.
Please call or email Council Members! Please leave a message for the council member at City Hall Number: 714-741-5104

Suggested message: My name is ________________, and I am a Garden Grove resident. (If you are a resident) I am calling to demand that the Garden Grove city council continue to support the resolution for DACA/DAPA. This is a program that benefits our young immigrants, and also provides a way to keep our families together. Please do your part and support the resolution.
