The Asian Pacific Community Fund Makes Annual Grants to its Affiliate Agencies

On Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 2121 Lofts in the Artist District of Los Angeles, the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) presented grant awards totaling over $125,000 to its member agencies.

APCF was founded in 1990 to establish a common vehicle through which people could donate directly to Asian and Pacific Islander and other communities in need. Most of APCF’s funding come from individuals who make a pledge during Workplace Giving Campaigns and donate through payroll deductions. APCF currently conducts Workplace Giving Campaigns for employees of the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles Unified School District and others. Funds raised are then distributed to its 30 member agencies, one of which is (put in your organization here).

In addition to Workplace Giving Campaigns, APCF establishes Donor Advised Funds whereby donors can set up a fund for an immediate tax deduction but distribute the funds at a later time and choose how the funds are distributed. APCF currently has 2 Donor Advised Funds set up and 3 grant opportunities totaling $55,000 were announced at the event through the VHA Fund. This is a great opportunity for APCF’s 30 member agencies as the grant opportunities are restricted to APCF member agencies only.

APCF’s 30 member agencies serve hundreds of thousands of clients, the majority of whom live in low-income and immigrant Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Programs and services include after-school programs, child care, disabled assistance, health care, legal services, low income housing, senior services, violence prevention and much much more. Do you work for the City of LA, County of LA or Kaiser Permanente? Do you know someone who does? The Workplace Giving Campaigns for these organizations are coming up and we hope you will consider a payroll deduction donation to the Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF). Every little bit helps and whatever amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
