On January 18, KRC joined the Teacher’s Strike in support of lower class sizes across all grades, more resources in our classrooms, improved school safety, and more instructional time and fewer standardized tests for the students.
For over a decade, the Korean Resource Center has led the way in voter engagement techniques and voter data usage among people of color community organizations in Southern California. This is our first entry in a new blog series exploring topics in voter data and integrated voter engagement best practices to share the accumulated know-how with social justice activists and organizations in the Asian American community.

MERCED, Calif. -- Civic engagement in communities of color across California has long lagged behind levels traditionally found in white communities. Now, a new study looks at how and why those disparities could continue in future generations.
KRC pursues an integrated civic engagement program by bringing its holistic model of organizing, which combines services, education, culture, organizing and advocacy, into civic engagement. KRC trains and involves its staff, board and members in its organizing work that encompasses both electoral and non-electoral cycles, including voter engagement, legislative visits to congress members on immigration reform, town halls, public testimony at hearings, rallies, assisting community members through social services, and educational workshops.
KRC launched the biggest ever single Asian American civic engagement program in the country by reaching out to Korean American voters and Asian American youth voters during the 2016 electoral cycle. Here are some of our achievements.
The past 10 days since November 8, 2016, NAKASEC and our affiliates, the Korean Resource Center in Los Angeles and the Korean American Resource and Cultural Center in Chicago have dedicated our full resources to holding urgent and heartfelt conversations with our membership and wider community.
