Mission and Background
The Korean Resource Center’s (KRC) mission is to:  Preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Korean Americans as part of multicultural America, provide needed social and community services to Korean and local community, facilitate grassroots organizing and electoral/civic participation of Korean Americans, and advocate for the civil rights and immigrant rights of Korean Americans. 

KRC was founded in 1983 to empower Korean American low-income immigrant and people of color communities. In the late 1990’s KRC deepened its work on local issues in order to forge a Korean American progressive agenda.  KRC is committed to advocating for racial, economic and social justice for immigrant and people of color communities.  KRC is guided by the principles Live Rightly, Know our Roots, Empower Ourselves, and Live in Harmony.

Position: 
The Korean Resource Center, Los Angeles Director will focus on the operational, administrative, management, development and financial responsibilities for KRC in support of its mission. Duties will include:  

Leadership and management: 

  • With the KRC Senior Team, assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. 
  • With the KRC Senior Team, develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization. 
  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the board of directors, staff and leaders, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board. 
  • Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. 

Financial Planning, Management, and Development:

  • Oversee and manage KRC’s budget. Create comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain sound financial practices.
  • Oversee the development of fundraising plans, research funding sources, write funding proposals, assess the ROI on all fundraising efforts and execute all related activities 
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive marketing, branding and development strategies that will ensure consistency throughout the organization and enhance revenue from major donors, foundations, government agencies, and corporations. 
  • Ensure that the organization regularly communicates effectively with its donors and has an active web presence, and active social media participation.

Membership Program:

  • Develop and implement membership plans to retain and grow members.
  • In coordination with the Senior Team, coordinate, manage, and evaluate all membership and renewal activities, including new member renewal, and potential member mailings.
  • Develop membership marketing material and promotional materials, including applications, welcome kits, certificates, membership cards, and other collateral. 
  • Oversee development and delivery of all member/donor communications, including annual report, regular e-newsletters, and other forms of communication
  • Data management:  Supervise development database to ensure that all fundraising/ development data is constantly updated. Includes lists, campaign and donor relationship tracking. 
  • Coordinate membership meetings/annual member convening.

Human Resources Planning and Management

  • Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices, including the development of job description for Los Angeles office staff and oversight of the organization’s benefits program.
  • Support the development of staff skills and build a leadership pipeline. 
  • Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review. 
  • Maintain a welcoming office with a culture of cooperation and respect between KRC departments. 

Program Planning and Management

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, program evaluation, assessment and innovation for KRC’s Los Angeles office and that the programs and services support the organization's mission and reflect the priorities of the Board.
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the organization to maintain or improve quality. 
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects.  
  • Communications: 
  • Develop, implement and monitor strong communications efforts for KRC. Build a strong relationship with the ethnic and mainstream media to promote KRC programs and activities. 
  • Foster strong relationships with key partners including community-based organizations, faith institutions, small business associations, elected officials and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BA, advanced degree preferred or commensurate experience.
  • At least 5 years of non-profit and operations and administrative experience, preferably with mid-size organizations; track record of effectively leading locally and regionally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and executed strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
  • Strong progressive values, comprehensive social justice framework and anti-oppression analysis as well as a commitment to KRC’s mission and vision.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
  • Excellence in organizational management and ability to set and achieve strategic objectives; develop and manage organization-wide and program budgets. 
  • Experience with human resource management.
  • Significant board development, fundraising, marketing/branding and fiscal management experience a must. 
  • A financially savvy and politically astute leader with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making 
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst differing opinions 
  • Strong commitment to the implementation of the professional development of staff.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
