Hope for a clean bill is what motivated 21-year-old Min Jung Park, a student at UC Irvine, to fly to Washington to join one of her first immigration protests this summer. Park, a DACA recipient who lives in Walters’ district, said she is more worried about what the deal-making could mean for her 15-year-old sister, who is no longer eligible for DACA because of Trump’s decision.

IRVINE - Today, U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris, a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, rallied in support of the DREAM Act at the University of California, Irvine. At the rally with students, clergy and business leaders, Harris discussed her efforts to protect Dreamers, highlighted the Administration’s unwillingness to extend the DACA renewal deadline, and encouraged Congress to pass the DREAM Act. The DREAM Act, a bipartisan bill co-sponsored by Harris, would ensure a path to citizenship for children brought to the United States by their parents.

At this time, we do not know when or if the DACA program will be terminated or what the end of the program may look like. While the DACA program remains in effect at this time, click here for things to keep in mind should the program end.

A Korean American group in Los Angeles and volunteer developers have created a multilingual smartphone app for immigrants who are worried about deportation and are stopped by authorities. The app called "Know your Rights" provides immigrants with a list of their basic legal rights in five languages: Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Immigrants can refer to the list to assert their rights when detained by immigration agents or stopped by police.
